Robert Render, CEO

A recycling entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience processing metals, plastics and other by-products, Bob is a founder and CEO of A Greener Solution. Previously, he served as president of Maine Plastics for 16 years. Under his leadership, the company grew from one plant to 10 and increased revenue seven-fold. He began his recycling career sorting metal in his family’s scrap yard as a teenager and then joined the business full–time after earning a BA in history from Grinnell College. Bob has been a featured speaker on sustainability at the HBAGlobal Expo, Sustain 2008, SWANA and the Society of Plastics Industry Inc., and is a member of the Midwest Board of the Society of Plastic Industries.

David Spitulnik, President

David joined A Greener Solution as president in January 2011. His extensive leadership experience includes positions at Motorola where he was a senior member of the team responsible for U.S., European and Latin American Merger and Acquisition and Joint Venture formation and management activities. David also worked at Centel Corporation in financial and business development roles as well as at Blackman Kallick, where he served as a consultant to closely held and family businesses. His current role is a homecoming of sorts, as David’s family was in the scrap metal business in western New York. David earned a BA in economics from Haverford College and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

David Kaplan, Vice President

David is a founder and Vice President of A Greener Solution, with responsibility for program strategy and the marketing of all recyclables. He has more than two decades of experience marketing and processing recyclable materials and has held several leadership positions at Maine Plastics, where he oversaw a 50 percent increase in the number of pounds processed within a two-year period. He earned a BS from the University of Michigan.

Neal Gutkin, Global Business Development Manager

Neal helped launch A Greener Solution in 2006. As Global Business Development Manager, he creates implementation and account management strategies for large national accounts. Neal began his career as a field chemist for Chemical Waste Management in 1989. In that role and later as regional operational manager, he helped clients minimize disposal and transportation costs. When Chemical Waste Management was acquired by Waste Management in 1999, he moved to National Accounts where he worked with global clients to recycle more material and maximize their rebates. He helped create Waste Management’s Upstream division, which grew to more than $150 million in sales.

Kim Cronin, National Third Party Manager

Kim supports the company’s business development and field operations utilizing third party vendors. Before joining A Greener Solution, Kim was the Strategic Sourcing Manager for Waste Management’s Industrial Supply Chain Group. She earned a BA in Science and an MS in Environmental Resources from Michigan State University.
